Performing at Disney: A Trip to Remember

Written by Brightspark Travel | March 20, 2016 | 12:00 PM

Kevin has brought dance and musical theatre students to plenty of regional competitions. But this year, he wanted to give them a purely educational performance opportunity with a trip to Walt Disney World® Resort. We spoke to Kevin about his experience with the Disney Performing Arts Program. Here are some of the highlights.

Performance is Key

For Kevin, “the performance experience needed to have significance. It needed to be something students would remember for their entire lives.” At Disney, his students could dance for an audience in the parks. It was both noncompetitive and completely memorable.

Standout Workshops

Many of Kevin’s students said that the Disney Performing Arts Workshops were the highlights of the tour. Lead by the park’s established professionals, these workshops and clinics introduced students to Disney’s performance traditions.

Ending With a Bang

The trip was very special for Kevin’s group. For many of his students it was their first time going to Disney, and he believes that sharing these special moments was essential for bringing students closer together. What was Kevin’s “special moment”? The night after the performance, when the group saw Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot® and was able to relax and enjoy each other’s company.
